Personal Statment
Jale concerns herself with processing the conceptual dilemmas that come with translating her thoughts and ideas into pieces of work.
She mostly begins making through exploration of materials, in most her most recent work, the material being food. She explores what different substances can do and asks questions of each detail included in her work and what embodies physical components within the work with each component having its own story to tell.
Her current concept is entitled ‘Make Up Kitchen’, This derived through developing notions of humor whether it be from T.V. shows, or seeing the funny side to industries such as the beauty industry and popular culture. Jale works in a performative sense being sure not to rule out any particular medium or process allowing the concept of a make-up kitchen to be realized in many forms of fine art such as Performance, Photographs, Film, Installation and even social situations and community projects.
Jale uses different subject matters to bring out opposing relevancies, by finding new ways of bringing attention to meanings that she wants to convey. This concept pulls in a lot of aspects of her personal life and historical learning. She is interested in how people learn and how to involve all kinds of people in learning and projects.
Her work is aimed at a spectrum of audiences and she is passionate about her work and creating conversations however the work reveals itself. By taking risks and feeling free to create in every aspect of what she does broadens her learning and outcomes. Abjection is a significant inspiration for Jale’s work theoretically, and has provided context and understanding which influences the humour she sees in the world. Collaboration with people, not only artists is something that is important to her work as a way of mixing knowledge. She challenges but never judges industries, merely making comment in an interesting way. Push and pull.
